Monday is more of a collaborative app that uses spreadsheets to help log different team tasks and updates said tasks with status reports and other relevant comments or notes.
With this information, all team members are able to see all active tasks, who the tasks are assigned to, their progress, and any relevant comments that help to elaborate on the tasks. This is efficient if you need to pass a task over to someone else; they can easily see what is going on and when the task should be completed.
Mondaycom offers its clients a user-friendly interface that is modern and innovative with a seamless workflow and ease of use. When comparing against other similar services, Monday’s pricing is reasonable for what is offered.
In terms of other work-management apps, if you’re familiar, Monday could be considered reminiscent of Airtable or Asana. Airtable and Monday look similar in many of the Monday.com features and functionalities.
Asana is one of the best CRM out there today, with a striking list of supported integrations, flexibility, value, and even a robust free service tier that is suitable for small businesses and newcomers, but Monday may be a perfect option for you.

What is Monday.com?
Here our Monday.com review will examine the basic setup of Monday and what it’s truly used for. Monday’s design could be defined as a type of elaborative spreadsheets. It can be accessed via mobile or desktop.
When you set up Monday for the first time, the setup is just a simple grid and you’ll choose what goes into it. These are called boards, and you can have more than one of them in view. Monday has some similarities to Kanban apps, and there is also a Kanban board view you could use if you so desire.
Each row on the platform contains a task or whatever you desire to track. The columns highlight the different attributes of the task: deadlines, who it’s assigned to, priority, and more. You can define the columns as you see fit. This is where the CRM aspect of Monday could come into play and you can use the boards to track where your leads fall in the sales process.

The drag-and-drop feature is also very simple and especially great for moving leads between different tables depending on what stage they are currently in, as well as managing any other team tasks.

Monday offers a free trial that lasts for 14 days; you won’t be required to supply any credit card or payment information to take advantage of the Mondaycom trial. Once the trial period ends, though, you’ll need to pay for an account.
Here in our Monday.com review, we’ll break down the relatively complex Monday pricing rubric so that you can figure out which option might make sense in terms of the number of team members you have, tier of service, as well as the length of your commitment.
Monday.com pricing offers prices for groups up to a certain number in the way of seats. You’ll have to choose one of these set seat quantities to find out the total monthly cost.

No matter how many seats you select, the monthly rate will stay the same; the rates shown on the pricing page are per seat, so according to how many seats you have, the monthly rate will be displayed.
Here are the plan breakdowns:
The Individual plan is free forever and offers you up to 2 seats. It gives you unlimited boards, 200+ templates, over 20 column types, as well as iOS and Android apps. There is no included file storage in the individual plan.
The Basic plan is $8 per seat per month, offering you all of the individual plan features plus unlimited free viewers, unlimited items, 5 GB file storage, prioritized customer support, and a dashboard feature based on 1 board.
The Standard plan pricing is $10 per seat per month and offers all Basic plan features plus calendar view, guest access, Timeline & Gantt views, Automation (250 actions/month), integrations (250 actions/month), and a dashboard that combines up to 5 boards.
The Pro plan runs $16 per seat per month and offers all previous Monday.com features plus private boards, chart view, time tracking, formula column, literally 100x more automations and integrations, and a dashboard combining up to 10 boards.
The final plan, Enterprise, requires you to contact Monday directly for pricing and offers additional features including enterprise-scale automation and integrations, multi-level permissions, tailored onboarding, advanced reporting/analytics, and more.
For any of the mentioned plans, you can choose to pay either yearly or monthly; when you pay yearly, you get a savings of 18% on monthly Monday.com pricing.
According to our Monday.com review, here are some takeaways about pricing:
- The pricing tiers can be complicated because there are many options and you have to choose the number of seats
- The Individual plan is very limited with zero integrations, automations, and no cloud storage
- There’s a huge jump in cost from the Individual plan to the Basic plan.
- The monthly rate for Mondaycom per seat is average. You may ultimately end up paying for seats you don’t need, though, which is a downside.

The first thing our Monday.com review advises you to do is visit your profile page, open the notifications section, and select the updates you’d like to get via email. One pesky Monday feature is that you’ll automatically be signed up for all updates, so you may want to customize them or you could find yourself bombarded with emails and wondering how to make it stop.
During the signup process, you’ll also be prompted to invite others to join you. You can then get down to creating your boards.
One thing our Monday.com review really praises the platform for is that everything about their boards is customizable regardless of whether you use a template or not. You can decide the number of columns, what its purpose is, what cell options are available within the columns, and what color those options are.
You can always change things as you go along and figure out the best way to manage your team’s workflow. The Monday app is intuitive, so it is very straightforward and responsive and it also has a drag-and-drop capability to help you easily rearrange elements on the page.
Your boards can be organized into folders and you can also manage which ones you share without outside clients, which ones are available to all team members, and which ones are private.

Most Popular Monday Features
Once you get your feet wet with the Monday.com features, you’ll see that there are some that stand out from the bunch. Take a look at the different views you can use for your boards and find what works for you. You can add a calendar view to boards that include dates, which is useful.
They also have a map view for boards with physical locations, views for Kanban board, Chart, and Timeline.
You’ll be able to communicate with your teammates via the conversation panel that is attached to any row, and the Monday communication features are simple and intuitive. You can write and post updates, but it does seem more tailored to having conversations, replying, and using the @ symbol to get a particular team member’s attention.
The InfoBoxes tab is next in our Monday.com review; in this box, you can add a note, files, or Q&A. There are many places to have conversations in general, so in this regard, it can get a bit confusing if you need to go back and find the conversation you’re looking for.
The third tab, activity log, allows you to see the history of actions for the task at hand or a row in questions.
The most significant Monday.com feature is its integrations and automation. With these integrations, you can connect a variety of apps for your team to use, including Slack, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Dropbox, Google Calendar, Mailchimp, Stripe, and many more.
At the time of this Monday.com review, their website says that they have over 40 integrations. When you use these integrations, you can seamlessly move information between the applications; for instance, you can connect your Slack account and Monday updates will automatically be posted to the Slack channel for relevant users.
Automations are also a highlighted feature of this Monday.com review because they save your team a lot of time and make your workflow better. If you’ve ever used smart home products, Zapier, or Apple Shortcuts, you may already have an idea.
Automation works based on “if this, then that” conditionals, such as “if someone marks a task as completed on Monday.com product board, then my manager will receive an email.
Many of these types of automation are already configured on Monday, so you won’t have to reference a Monday.com FAQ to know how to use it. You can also simply select the ones you’d like to enable and then customize them to your tasks accordingly.
For example, if the automation is Every time period, create an item, you may end up with something like “Every Monday, create a task called Update Work Status.” Our Monday.com review finds automation useful for status changes, recurring tasks, moving tasks between boards, and notifications.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Features
This section in our Monday.com review will discuss the viability of using Monday features for Customer Relationship Management, or CRM. The platform advertises itself as a type of CRM solution, so we want to evaluate how they measure up to other CRM options available.
Monday looks pretty similar to the CRM solution HoneyBook, a comprehensive business management solution with the capability to support CRM hooks. HoneyBook has a larger focus overall on the CRM aspect of business, but the price point is higher than Monday.com pricing.
HoneyBook was designed to attract small businesses, but Monday has the capability to accommodate expanding businesses and enterprises. This is what sets it apart in terms of a business management orientation in contrast with small business CRM, like Onpipeline or Salesforce Essentials.
Monday is driven by the focus on teams and projects, and the best CRM tools are focused on sales and pipelines, which is very clear from the get-go. It offers some basic CRM and integrations with third-party tools, but it’s not the best CRM for a sales hub or a customer contact point.
From the beginning, the Monday setup wizard will help you to evaluate the size of your business as well as your principal needs and requirements. You can select Customer Relationship as one of these options and you’ll then be able to choose the Simple CRM selection.
You’ll then be directed to links for a Sales Pipeline template in addition to the CRM learning center, which is a guide with instructions and pre-recorded video tutorials helping you to sync email, customize templates, add templates, checkout automation, and invite users.
While Monday.com pricing seems reasonable at first glance, it can get pricey once you begin to add more seats. It can be a bit of a challenge to categorize Monday, but in this Monday.com review, we’ll break it down and give you some insight on what the platform can really be used for. It’s kind of a work management tool, and it’s kind of a project management app. Let’s take a look at the distinctions.
Monday.com review as a project management app
We wouldn’t classify Monday.com features as geared towards a project management app. Project management software is designed specifically for managing projects with a start date, end date, and deliverables. Things like building a website or building a house are considered projects aimed at specific completion.
Ongoing work are things like writing blog posts, running a team, answering emails, bug fixes, etc. Project management tools are typically aimed at large, complex projects, while work management apps are aimed at visualizing everyday tasks through a specific workflow.
If you want a true project management app, consider other alternatives such as Teamwork Projects, Liquid Planner, and Zoho Projects.
Monday.com review as a work management app
Monday is more clearly related to the workflow of day-to-day, which makes it more suitable as a work management app. You can easily see how everyday tasks are coming along and make sure that your team stays on task and knows what to do.
You can use Airtable to customize your workflow and collaborate. It’s very similar to Monday.com features in the sense that it is based around a type of spreadsheet view for task management. There are four available plans for Airtable: Free, Plus, Pro, and Enterprise.
Our Monday.com review finds that Airtable Free plan is better than the Individual (free) Monday plan for a few reasons, mainly because it includes automatic integrations; the free version of Monday does not. The paid versions of Airtable are similar to its free version, just expanded.
Trello is a team collaboration tool that gives projects a visual organization through the use of Trello cards. The cards can be easily moved from one section (lane) to the next and have easy-to-use communication tools.
Free features included:

- Unlimited activity log
- Assignee and due dates
- iOS and Android apps
- 2-factor authentication
If you want additional premium features, you’ll get tons of them if you sign up for one of the paid plans, Business Class or Enterprise. Check out the Trello pricing page for all the details. Although this is a Monday.com review, we really like what Trello offers.
Basecamp is a project management and team communication tool that helps you get all of your work done in one place. They offer a 30-day trial so you can test things out, and offer two different pricing models, the free, Personal option and the Basecamp Business option.
The free version is limited to only 3 projects, 20 users, and 1GB of storage space, so it really doesn’t offer much.
Our Monday.com review finds these features notable for Basecamp Business paid:
- Unlimited projects, users, and clients
- Project templates
- 500GB storage
- Team projects
- Project templates
- Priority support
If you want integrations with apps like Slack, Dropbox, Asana, or G Suite, you’ll have to pay extra per month, per user.
Asana allows you to track, manage, and connect your team and tasks through their tool. They have a very effective Free plan that offers many features, including unlimited projects, tasks, file storage, up to 15 team members, and 100+ free integrations.
Asana also offers two paid plans, Premium and Business, both offering more robust features that extend the free version. Our Monday.com review offers Asana up as the best free project management solution if you’re looking for integrations and have more than just 2 team members, which is what Monday allows in their free plan.
A project management software that offers you complete control and visibility for your tasks and projects is how Wrike defines itself. There are three plans: Free, Professional, Business, and Enterprise. In terms of our Monday.com review, we consider Wrike to have a pretty effective free option that includes storage space, but it doesn’t include any integrations or automation. The paid plans do include them, much like Monday.
Wrike also has additional plans available for marketing and creative teams as well as services delivery teams.
The main draw of LeanKit is its ability to build a Kanban board in minutes with board customizations and drag-and-drop cards across lanes, much like Trello. It’s a visual tool for team planning and collaboration that allows for outcome-based goal setting. LeanKit only offers one pricing plan— $20 per user, per month, billed annually.
If you don’t want to be limited to using a Kanban board, LeanKit probably isn’t the option for you. That said, it does offer a lot of tools for structuring your work, collaborating, analyzing data, and outside system integration.
The final alternative our Monday.com review offers up is Podio. It offers four total plans available, one of which is free, but the free plan is very limited in comparison with other plans. In fact, you’d likely have to sign up for their third plan option, Plus, in order to gain access to most of the features, you may need to create effective workflows. Podio’s layout looks similar to a social media site, and our Monday.com review rules that Monday has a more appealing user interface.
How Do Monday.com’s Prices Compare?
It wouldn’t be a true Monday.com review if we didn’t compare the pricing models for a big-picture understanding; pricing is, of course, a big factor in choosing the right solution for you.
Because you have to choose your plan based on seat group number, it’s a bit tough to compare to other services’ plans because there are so many possible pricing schemes depending on how many seats you need.
In terms of the price per seat on Monday, the pricing is among the industry average, if not a bit cheaper. The unfortunate thing is that if you don’t have enough users to fill up all the seats you pay for, you’ll essentially be paying more per seat.
Let’s say you have a total of 31 team members; you have too many for the 30-seat option, but not even close to the 40 seat option. That is, unfortunately, your only choice, so you’ll be paying a total of $320/mo billed annually.
If you were able to select the number of team members you need exactly, you’d only be paying $248/mo billed annually. That’s $72 more just going unused.
Ultimately, we like what Monday has to offer in terms of its interface and ease of use, but if you’re looking for other options that only charge you for the people on your team, Trello and Airtable are both excellent options.
Some Solid Value-Adds, But Needs a Better Free Version
The results of our Monday.com review are in— if you’re looking for a work management tool, Monday is be a viable option depending on your budget and business size. It’s easy to use, has an intuitive user experience, and also offers a variety of integrations and automation.
One big downside is that it doesn’t offer a free service tier that is robust enough to be valuable to any team operation; the Individual plan only offers up to 2 seats and doesn’t include any of the integrations or cloud storage.
